Secret Formula Revealed: Behind the Scenes Sneak Peek of my Creative Painting Process!

Suddenly, a Cat
6x6" oil on Gessobord

Have you ever had a bad day when everything seemed overwhelming?

I was in such a mood last summer.

I had a lot on my mind. I felt stressed out and frustrated because some of my paintings were not coming out the way I expected.

What do you do when you feel down?

I find it helpful to go for a walk. I wandered into my neighborhood community garden

I saw plants everywhere, lush and full of life:

I imagined how each plant strived to grow and reach for the light, every day, at its own pace, with strength and perseverance.

Plants surprise us by growing in less-than-ideal conditions.

I felt comforted and less alone, knowing that the plants share my struggle to grow.

Suddenly, a cat appeared!

I was so excited because I LOVE CATS!

The cat stopped and looked at me for 30 seconds.

It was a sign from Mother Nature, to cheer me up!

It was a magical, life-transforming moment of serenity and comfort. I went home feeling renewed hope and motivation to keep painting.

Dog Portrait Oil Paintings: Matching Pair Displayed Side-by-Side

I painted these for a wonderful woman who has two active and lively dogs. They especially enthusiastic about getting treats.

I used squiggly brushstrokes and splashes of paint to show how energetic they are.

Here is Emma, the older dog. She is a hilarious leader in trouble-making.

Here is Enid, the younger dog, very affectionate and adorable:

Do you prefer the gold or wood frames? I like both!

Thank you to Jennifer Bailey Photography & Design, for allowing me to use her original photo as reference for this portrait painting.

Jennifer is an amazingly talented family photographer in Ottawa, Canada. I was impressed with her excellent portfolio of maternity, couples, children and baby photos.
Her passion and creativity for capturing the moment comes through every photo, from the way she uses light, to the angles she chooses.
